Asurion Steps to The Table in the TP-TP2 Swap Saga

This saga with the tp-tp2 swap seems to be ever changing with it working for some but not for most.  Well today it takes one more turn as apparently Asurion (Sprint insurance service) is now replacing SOME people’s Touch Pro with a TP2.  I had to emphasize some because this is not as turnkey a swap as most had hoped.  Yet, nonetheless it does seem possible to do and I will tell you how.

What seems to be working for people that received the TP2 is detailed below:

Here’s a scenario
“Hi I just tried to do a claim on phoneclaim.com but did not submit because the site offered an inferior alternative to my phone. now I’m calling to let you know that the palm 850 phone is in no way acceptable option and that the proper replacement option is a touch pro.”

(for which they will say they are out if you call tonight “tonight as in 10/20/09”), then you say

the proper comparable or better alternative is the touch pro 2*”

if he/she says no ask to speak with the supervisor and repeat everything to supervisor and emphasize that the proper comparable or better alternative is the tp2 per the asurion policy.”

then you pause and ask “will I receive the tp2 in two-three business days?”

before you call make sure you go to phoneclaim.com to do the claim but don’t submit…they can actually see you tried to do the claim.

*if you have the policy with you even better, you can read it word for word and quote the section and line number for full effect.

So that is the process.  Some people (like myself) are still waiting for the warehouse to be restocked.  I still have an open ticket and do not want to mess that up by trying this method.  If all else fails thought I will give this a shot.  Also, if you have a copy of the memo or the WEL list, PLEASE do not print that out and take it into the store! That should be used only to let you be and informed customer.  People taking it in and waving it around to Sprint employees may have messed this up and the reason it is so hard to get the TP2 now.

No problem. I know most people upgraded to the TP from their Mogul with this method so I knew people would be interested. I just wish they would restock already.

so if i lose my tp & do an insurance claim i will recieve a tp2 in the mail?

It is not quite that simple and from what I heard I think Asurion may have adjusted this policy a bit. The success rate for getting a TP switched for a TP2 has not been as high with Asurion as it has directly from a store. The method that seem to have worked best with Asurion is to catch them when they are out of touch pros to ship then they will give you a TP2. Iy may take a little talking on your part to convince them of why you should get a TP2 but some have been able to get this to work. I received my TP2 from a Service Center so I wish I could be of more help. The success stories of Asurion swaps have dropped dramatically so I do not have any more tips or stories to talk about. Good luck though.
